Holly was born and raised in Ohio most of her life. After she graduated from high school she attended Bowling Green State University with a major in Fine Art Photography although she has been a mixed media artist for many years. In 1999, one of her photographs from college was published in a photo compilation book through The International Library of Photography called "Timeless Treasures". In 2009, one of her original acrylic paintings called "Breaking Through" was exhibited in a juried show at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Montana where she lived for a short time before moving to Edmonton, Alberta. Later that year she and Rob started Polar Lights Art Studio in their home in Edmonton with the hopes of showing others what makes them happy. Recently, Holly stumbled upon the craft of needle felting. She taught herself the basic techniques of sculpting with wool fibres. This has quickly become her (newest) passion…and possibly her calling as an artist. She continues to create art of all types - mixed media, watercolor, acrylic, and decoupage - but is concentrating on her felting. She is a consignment artist in several Alberta gallery shops. She also spends her spare time as a volunteer at the Alberta Craft Council's Gallery Shop.

Favourite colours: Green & Blue

Favourite Artists: Grant Leier, Wayne White

Inspired by: Pop culture, fonts, vintage advertising, movies, music, finding & collecting reusable objects.

Rob attended High School at Victoria School of the Arts in Edmonton. After High School he attended Grant MacEwan College in the Arts Administration program. For a short time he worked in one of the many art galleries around the city. Growing up in Edmonton was a great inspiration to him since the city has such an outstanding artistic community. After taking several years off from doing any type of art Rob met Holly. Her extreme passion for art renewed his creative energy and he began creating again. His passion for art stems from Pop Culture. He finds relaxation in creating brightly coloured paintings in a Pop Art style. He thoroughly enjoys collecting & repurposing objects in his artwork. Many of his pieces include found objects and intricate bead work which reflects Rob's patience and attention to detail.
